Yamaha's took out the top six placings in the 150km Seadoo challenge today on Botany Bay ,Sydney Australia! And the winner was a STOCK GPR , yes it was pulled down and checked after the race and passed the inspection . There were some fast XPLs out there some with factory twin pipes , sorry guys not reliable ! These are the facts , now lets see the Seadoo one eyed brigade deny them.

Adam, a GPR1200? link us to the Real story, and congrats to the GPR's, they are fast. I own a SeaDoo and am very impressed with the Yamaha GPR1200, much much faster than the SeaDoo ski's-same cost. It seems to me that SeaDoo is still making 1997 Ski's and engines, just modifying the paint and finish a few centimeters here and there. Is this a big letdown? For me, yes.

Adam Its my understanding that the winning GPR was from the JET 1 stable. Trust me , JET 1 will have modified this ski well beyond the the rules that apply to the stock class, they are VERY clever when it comes to bending the rules as I have seen Todd do some amazing things to STOCK !!!!! ski's . Even so I think its great to see the yamahas finally giving it to the XPL'S Mark

Funny how, if a GPR wins a race it's got to be illegal. I thought that GPRs placed the top few spots, guess they were all over the legal line, hmmm.

Mark believe me when I say it was stock, they pulled it right down ,pipes cylinders and jet pump ,cdi everything ! Seems like the Seadoo guys could not stand the idea a YAMAHA could win the Seadoo challenge! I spoke to Michael Buttegieg today and his GPR is still in bits from the inspection. Yes it passed.

I guess if they pulled it down then there is no way that the craft could be modified beyond the IJSBA rules. LOL!!!!

Stock ??????

R&D Air filter, R&D Intake grate, R&D ride plate, Solas Prop, rejetted carb's, sealed pump shoe, sponsons, hours of R&D.

It maybe stock by the rule book but it's not stock really.

Besides my VXR would smoke it..................it's sic mate.

Seems to me, y'all are not giving the rider much of the credit. Hey, I love my GPR, but there are other muscle craft out there that are no slouches. Reguardless of how fast it is, you have to stay in the gas for 150Km, (let me type it again in case you did not read it the first time), 150Km!!! That in itself is a heck of a trick. What would you expect the average speed to be from start to finish? I'll bet it wasn't over 60. Any GPR can do that, but can a RIDER do it for 90 miles?

A well tuned stock GPR should be able to keep a rider in the hunt, but it is sometimes a determined rider, not always the fastest that wins the day in endurance racing. I'll bet he had to hunt down the leader. My hat's off to whom ever it was riding that long and hard.

Now if your fast AND determined, well......

salty

this thing is killing me!
