Hi,I'm planning on buying a watercraft before the season starts here in ontario canada.I'm looking to buy one for wave jumping and just playing around down here on Lake Huron near Sarnia Ontario.I think i'll buy a sit-down although a stand-up interest me,but sitdowns are easier to find used.I was considering a Seadoo hx or a 96 yamaha waveblaster 2.I have tryed a 94 seadoo xp and was jumping waves and had alot of fun.I'm in my 30's but in not bad shape.Which machine would be better at jumping surf and keeping me interested? Are stand-up really that much harder to ride and are they better at jumping and riding rough water.Do they exhuast you after 1/2 hr.Thanks for any help. Also what do I look at when I'm purchasing a used watercraft? Thanks again.

The HX is hard to reboard for a beginner! The Blaster 2 is a good beginner boat but won't keep up with the Jones's. A stand-up is a blast, but it does give you a workout! You will never get bored on a stand-up like you will on a sit-down! If you feel out of shape then go for a 96 XP, or 97-up SPX(same basic boat) If you feel like a challenge, go for any Yamaha stand-up.

ttr6,

Stand ups are definitely more aggressive on the learning curve and require more stamina to ride then their distant cousins, the sit downs. If you pick up a stand up, you may find that you initially lack the ability to really jump and hit the waves the way you think or may want too. But in the end, once you have mastered the craft and if you are really interested in experiencing the thrill of wave jumping, the stand up watercraft is definitely the way to go!

Let me know what you decide either way, we always get a group to go riding and welcome others to join in! We're from the Detroit area and could meet up with you in Lake St. Clair or the river under the Blue

Stand up all the way The learning curve is slower, but worth it in the end.
