I have been using Lake Travis (Ausitn,Tx) a lot due to Lake Austin being lowered for dock repair and the controll of hydrilla (down 12'. The new park at Mansfeild Dam is really nice. It's been there for a year, but I just now have had a chance to use it. It was rough as heck out there today, but I enjoyed it.I took the STX out, after riding in the chop, I decieded it needs some mods. I ordered wider bars,an intake grate, sponsons, and for sure mats ( those stock ones are almost as bad as the OE Ultra ones). After that I should be in the zone as far as hadling. Maybe carbs and a head over the summer ( can't get em now, I'm broke)????? I came back to shore soaked ( stayed out for 1hour), it reminded me of when I use to ride the X2 this early in the year. Water was aroung 55, the air around 65, windy as hell and the sun was out. A couple of times I got hit so hard by a wave, I felt like some one took a 5gallon bucket of water and thru it at me. About nocked my goggles off. Regards, Matt Burkhard

Matt,

You need that pump wedge and modified ride plate. Much dryer ride and not as brutal over the waves..hehehe.

James, But that's half the fun...right? =) Yea, that's on my list of goodies too. The Worx components were hard to come by. Tucker, Parts Unlimeted, LynnVic..etc didn't have them. Had to have go via Cobbs. But they are on their way. Regards, Matt

Matt,

I was told that Lake Austin is low, and that its going to take 4 days to fill it up. I wonder what kinda impact its going to take away from Lake Travis, when they release the water from Manisfield dam>>

They( the LCRA) are going to start filling it back up on Mon Feb12th. THere is an extra foot of water in Lake Travis saved for that. Look at the site www.lcra.org and look at the recent news section.I hope the impact will be less hydrilla and duck weed, we will see. Regards, Matt Burkhard

The impact will be negligible, perhaps a foot at the most. Lake Austin is so small compared to Travis that raising the level 12 feet doesn't even make a dent in Travis.

I really hope so. I hope this summer wont be a big failure on Lake Travis due to last summer rain drought. I wannt to be at lake Travis , not Austin.
