You mean the o-ring? No secret. Just refill the oil when you are done.

Oh. Well that is a little different. You can get by without the tools available but you just have to be careful not to 'bugger up' the new ones when installing. Getting them out is no biggie. Why do you need to replace yours?

Getting the old one out is the trouble. I see that the right way to do this is to push both bearings and the seal out together, but I cant figure out how to pull on the seal alone.

I've found water in the pump twice. Once, just maybe i got the o-ring in badly, but I'm sure i didn't bugger it twice. The seal 'looks' ok, but it is 10yrs old.

You should be able to tap the old seal out by accessing it through the back. You will destroy it but since you are replacing it that point is moot. Try a long screwdriver and a small mallet.

With a screwdriver I grabbed so little of the lip I was afraid I'd just mangle it. Something like a screwdriver with a little hook to it would be ideal. Anyway I got it, favoring creative solutions, I stuck a washer through the seal and into the groove behing the seal and tapped it out using the prop shaft.

hi there, I got the bugger out a long time ago by pushing it out from the inside, but can you describe the puller you are talking about. The automotive 'seal puller' I have it basically a pry bar and doesn't come close to fitting this tiny seal.
