Don't know if its already been discussed but the most recent issue of Popular Mechancis did a very short article on the upcoming Honda PWC. Wasn't much to it except for one very telling statement from Honda 'designed for the family and not the performance oriented enthusiast'. Kind of tells you Honda isn't getting the kind of performance out of their four strokes that speed freaks need. I'm sure that with using the Tigershark three seater hull and their four stroke that it will be a nice 45mph family ski that will appeal to a good part of the current market segment but we're at least five years away from a four stroke producing comprable power and acceleration to a two stroke.

I always thought a WANKEL or ROTARY engine would be a good replacement to the current 2 stroke. A fuel injected ROTARY has great power to wieght and should be cleaner than a 2 stroker... Also the rotary is much smoother running and should have MUCH less driveline vibration.

I dont know however if you could easily adapt one for a marine application. Maybe someone already did... hell i was reading the other day about a turbine outboard motor.. OUTBOARD? thats pretty damn amazing

In 1975 I owned a rotary powered Susuki RE-5 Touring bike. It was huge. Funny thing was that unlike the rx7 rotary motors this one needed an oil injection unit and two stroke oil. It wasn't really anythin overly impressive with performance but it was a wankle engine.

4 stroke motors are capablie of much higher RPM's. more rev's mean more speed. the problem i see is water inhalation! valves don't hold up to water in the chamber very well.guess we'll have to wait to see what they can do about it. meantime i got a bit of a project going myself. wedged a honda CBR motor into a sea doo sp hull. 6 gears and a clutch. yeeee haaa. don't have a clue how its going to work yet, but it does redline at 15,000 rpm, and i beleive 6th is a 1 to 1 ratio. should be interesting to see how it works, or if it does at all. i'll post pictures in a bit.
