I will be posting a picture of the 3 blade $19.00 hone I purchased from the local auto store tonight on the binaries newsgroup. This is the hone I used to crosshatch the pto cylinder after being bored before I installed it this past summer. With 5 tankfulls of gas already used, I would consider it a success.

Just wanted to let you all know so you can pop some corn and get ready. It should be out there tonight.

Cheers

Slagdemon I hope all the NG readers don't think that it's OK to use a three blade without some experience. I have both a three blade and a multi ball set that I use on a variable speed (foot controlled variac adapter) drill press. Work that depth arm continuously while using it and check your clearance's afterwards. You might have been lucky by hand but it's not worth having to redo if you screwed up. Yes, they are cheap but an engine replacement is not. Sorry to preach but there are a lot of impressionable 'I can do that' readers on here.

While were on the topic of hones, i used a 4 blade, heavy duty hone in a variable speed hand drill. Cant remember what kind it was tough. It worked awsome, way better than the NAPA kind, but I cant rember what kind it was, anyone know of any good ones and where to get them.

Thanks,

Didnt happen last night.. will do it tonight.. sorry for the stale corn folks..

Remember, only professionals should try this type of work (or, if you live in the boonies and have nothing to lose). You can easily screw up that thousand dollar engine or several hundred dollar jug by hanging a port or getting the cylinder out of round.

Yup...best hones around. Site is: www.sunnen.com I myself am getting ready to get one of their hones for my shop. I've use their portable hone but I've decided to get a stationary automatic hone.

By portable I am referring to the type that attaches to a drill chuck. I don't remember off the top of my head. I'll pull out my catalog and see if I can get you a price. But remember...they are not cheap.

A Sunnen hone setup will cost you $300-350 depending on the stone sets you want/need.
