We have a 1999 Yamaha XL760. When, if ever, should the oil injection pump be replaced. We have been told that these pumps have a tendency to quit unexpectedly resulting in a wiped engine. Any comments would be appreciated.

a pump could last forever or it could last 10 minutes, thats why they have extended service contracts . if you were to cheap to buy it then switch to premix 40:1 .
