More on the GPSIII

Way to go, SL. Has anyone checked on these Garmins lately? The price is now, oh, $289.99. Merry Christmas to us all that made out on that deal! I reckon someone on OD's end goofed. BTW, if there are still any diehards out there, that's still cheaper than Academy's at $370.

I have not gone back to OD since, but I'm surprised that they even have any left to sell at $289.99 . Some of my buddys bought several units and eurostylin from this ng bought some in the teen amount. I'm sure the word spread quickly because the following day it was on the atv ng and then I posted it on the gps ng. I did post it here first and waited a day before doing it on the others to give the people in here a chance to pick one up before they were all gone.

None of the Office Depot's I've called had any III+'s left. And it does look like it was a goof, since the eMaps are now listed at 99.88 at www.officedepot.com. The only problem I have with them is that they're only IPX2 waterproofed. Definitely out of the question for taking on the ski unless I put it in a baggie, and questionable even for using in the Jeep with the way I occasionally douse the interior.

I wen tot OD today and asked aboput the 3's. They said somebody is in deep trouble over the pricing mistakes. The Emap is 99.00, the GPS3 is 289.00. That is still cheaper than anyplace else.

The ETrex is still only 69.88 at OD online which is a better deal than anywhere.

All of the OD here in New Orleans told me they are getting rid of gps units all together and that is why the prices were so low. Sure enough I went in to one and no more gps's at all.

Hey, I just got an emap, it was 200.00 PLUS 70.00 for a chip to give me the back roads streams & washes, did I get JUKED ???

I used it to drive to work today, total rookie, that thing is soo kool

Office Depot reportedly had the emap for $99.88. They are discontinuing that model at their chains as well. I saw it on the gps ng, but I have not seen it in person at an OD. I suspect it's true, but they are probably all gone like the gpsIII+ .

I've got an image file off the Mapsource CD that I wanted to load onto my GPS 3+ but, after downloading the latest version of the 2.9 megabyte setup file for Mapsource from the Garmin site I have found that it will not install without seeing a previous version of the software on my hard drive. Does anyone know where the file is supposed to be located on the hard drive that the software is looking for when the setup program starts to load?
