There are approx. 10,000 pwc's registered in nassau and suffolk counties. Some of the greatest places to ride have been unfairly banned to us. Lets not loose anymore and try to get Fire Island back. If you are interesed in joining contact me. Lets organize a ride right along the Fire Island National Seashore Border in the Great South Bay. A big turn out will show our power. Lets do it big, and lets do it soon before this issue falls out of the publics eye.

Start contacting the dealers there. See if you can get some of them to provide list of names/numbers etc... There are very few folks that read this newsgroup, that have skis.

Please count me in on any ride plan, email me at

I'm not too confident we can do anything about these horrible new bans, it seems like it's all happening at the federal level. However who knows, maybe if we can get a group of vocal business owners involved we can make a stink, but it should have been done more in the previous 18 months (some of us did at least try by showing up at the Fire Island public meetings on the subject and voicing our opinions).

I'm really wondering how Venice Marina, which keeps hundreds of 'skis jet docked just behind the Belt Parkway, is going to be affected; if those pwcs can't motor out of there into Jamaica Bay, it's a disaster for his business (and for my ride plans if I can't get through the bay to his trusty gas dock from my westbound ocean runs). I'm thinking of calling up there and asking them what's the scoop (maybe if you idle thru the bay you can get there...although that would take a ridiculously long time).
