Does anyone know what RPM the rev limit is set at for a Kawasaki 650 OEM replacement igniter? Has anyone heard of a company called Advanced Distribution Of Arizona? I am told they sell a replacement igniter (coil) for the Kaw 650 with a different timing curve and higher rev limit than OEM. Has anyone done business with this company or used their igniter on a 650? Thanks, Chris in L.V.

Get a 86 650 It has no rev. limiter but you will also need stopcomponit.

Chris, the 86 X-2 650 igniter has NO rev limit) The later 650 cdi's do but not sure what that limit is. Best of my recollection is there was a co out of Texas I believe 'Dale's' maybe that modified the 650 boxes.

That only works if you can find an old one. All the newer CDIs have a limiter incorporated.

That is the way I understand it. The igniter that finally went bad is on a 96X2 and it's the original one. Its just the plug wires that are shot, unfortunately...... Anyway, I didn't want to buy a replacement igniter and be bumping the rev limiter all the time. I just can't see spending the jack for a new total loss for the old thing, but I sure miss riding it. Thanks, Chris

Thanks Fagan, I remember them too. 'Bad Attitude' is what I think they called their Igniters. I seem to remember that they worked real well for a couple months and then I had a 'bad attitude' when they crapped out. Just kidding, I appreciate the help. Chris

You wouldn't happen to know where I might find a brand new 96 igniter would you????????? If you do I would be sooooo happy....... Heck I'll kiss your butt at high noon on main street. Come to think of it, I might even give you a half hour to draw a crowd! Really!!!! You couldn't tell anyone else of course!

Chris best thing to do is to find old MSD total loss ignition. Call MSD and find out if they still have trigger plates for Yamaha 701 which mounts inside of the stock flywheel. This way you will have total control of ignition and you will retain OEM charging system. My Blaster is set up that way, and it works really good. I'm sure you can find used MSD, and if you have to you can make your own trigger plate. I'm working my butt off, one job out three jobs in. I need 36 hr days. Regards
