FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE...

REGION 1 IS ALL SET FOR CLOSED-COURSE

The IJSBA confirmed today that BP MotorSports (BPMS) will run it's 5-event, Closed Course Series as part of the REGION 1, IJSBA U.S. REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS in 2001. The tentative schedule for the five events is as follows:

1. April 7-8, Lake Isabella or Lake Evans (Possible locations, to be confirmed) 2. May 5-6, Lake Cahuilla, Indio, CA 3. Jun 9-10, Lake Cahuilla, Indio CA 4. Jul 7-8, Lake Isabella, CA 5. Aug 11-12, Lake Cahuilla

You will note that two days have been set aside on each weekend, in the event that sufficient entries show up for the events. BPMS anticipates that if the entry is large enough, the two day events will feature:

Saturday All Stand-up (Ski) Program, with two rounds and Mains on their own racecourse Sunday All Runabouts (Sit-downs), with two rounds and Mains on their own racecourse (This schedule may be swapped from event to event)

In the works, there are also several other innovations to be implemented, such as: 1. Starting procedures 2. Practices 3. Jr. Program of practices and time-trials, on Stand-ups 440s, after racing is all done. (This is tentative but we're working with the IJSBA to implement some type of Jr. program)

In the event that the entry is not sufficiently as large as anticipated, BPMS will nonetheless run a one-day program, with the following schedule:

Saturday morning: Standup Classes (Ski) in the morning on their own racecourse Saturday afternoon: Sit-downs Classes (R/A) in the afternoon, on their own racecourse

In order to help BPMS determine which racing program will be put in place, BPMS will make entry forms available ahead of time so that racers can sign up in advance.

INNOVATIONS WITH STARTING PROCEDURES??? THEIR IS ONLY ONE WAY TO DO IT THE WAY IT IS DONE AT THE WORLD FINALS, THESE ARE RACES TO QUALIFY??

PRACTICES??

JR PROGRAM?? YOU HAVE TO BE LEGAL AGE TO EVEN RIDE, LET ALONE RACE. CHANGING THE COURSE FOR STAND UPS AND RUNABOUT IN ONE DAY WILL NOT WORK.

I HOPE YOU BRING A BIG ENOUGH TENT TO PUT THIS CIRCUS UNDER.

I actually think it will be alright. The course change for stand ups and sit downs is the best idea ive heard. If this sport is going anywhere it is with stand ups and i ride a 1200 myself. But people dont wanna see stanups on a big open course there is no action. David Suesov

Maybe they should? At least the stand up riders interviewed were not too happy with the track.
