I have a 99 ultra went out today and found that my gas gauge was not working . I check all the conections and they are all good .fuel light on panel just flashes like im out of gas but its full . ,also warning light flashes with fuel gauge .any ideas

make a jumper lead and cross the two sender wires.If it reads full your sender is bad.Scott

is this hard to get to were is the sending unit and is it easy to change .sorry for the dumb question just dont know.

look on top of the tank and you will see the sending unit[black rubber with wires sticking out.]As far as changing it sometimes you have to pull the engine and then slide the tank out.On the ultra I have not been able to pull one out with the tank in.Good luck,scott
