GPR - Fagan et al

yes this is true it will affect you r performace it will make it feel like you are lean seizing

Jarrett, the factory service manuals for the 99 xl1200 does mention some of the problems that the posts references. ex engine stopping-timing fluctuating etc if the cat temp alarm is activated. However I've not seen this same info in the 00 or 01 gpr sevice info and also have not experienced any of discernable aformentioned symptoms in either my 00 or 01 gpr. If in fact these functions did exist in the 99 xl it would be nothing more than a simple programming change for Yamaha to delete them on subsequent models. If your still concerned or like myself just don't want the hassle of muting the beeper all the time or seeing the warning flash, go to Radio Shack and buy a 50 cent 1k ohm resistor and connect it where the cat sensor wires normally plug into.

Mark (boatbasin) did you see this? Is this a potential problem for you and/or me with our recently installed D-plates? I didn't really get to ride mine since the d-plate was installed because of other problems that came up, but I know you test-rode it a couple of times for me since then and everything seemed okay. Anyway, is this an issue or has something else in our set up addressed this? I know my CDI isn't stock with the pro-tec mods, does this have an impact one way or the other on the issue that Jarrett is bringing to light here?
