Ok TEAM NG,

What is the favorite tripple pipes of choice and why?

I hear that the Speedwerx pipes make about 8 more hp, but are more prone to detonation being that Darrin at Speedwerx doesn't have a detonation guage like Factory or some of the other guys. To make up for this sensitivity to detonation, you must use lower compression heads than you have to with the Factory pipes . The factory pipes make less HP with stock heads, but are more forgiving so you can run higher compression heads that make up the difference in HP. End result as I understand it:

Speedwerx pipes with lower compression = Factory pipes with higher compression. Talking about HP.

Both Riva and R&D say they tried the speedwerx pipes and ended up choosing the Factory pipes on their pro boats.

Opinions please,

Chris

We used Speedwerx pipes on both limited and superstock. We also used the lower compression domes on both. The higher domes will leave slightly harder, but you loose a lot of top end. Another reason to use the lower domes is that unless you have a magnum pump, sealed very tight, you will spin more off the line. We had very few problems with the pipes. Out of six, we had one break. Much more problems with reeds breaking than pipes. I know that Eric Lagapolous (sp) used the Speedwerx pipes at the beginning of the tour and used Factory's at the finals. He said they were both pretty similar in power, they just went with an R&D set up at Havasu, and they use Factory Pipes.

WOW Cramer, I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Just about fell off my seat after reading your post. Yes, I'm building a triple piped limited GPR this year.

Good to hear from you, Give me a call,

Chris

I think there is more room to connect the EGT sensors on the Factory pipes on the engine/eshaust coupler.
