Today I came across this post making fun on the wikipedia entry discussing personal watercraft injuries and the decision of the California Court of Appeal (First District) upheld a $3.7 million Napa County jury verdict against Polaris Industries arising out of one such incident (which had devastating effects on the victim’s lower abdomen).
Digging deeper I found an experienced Jet Ski lover that stated:
While he’s an avid jet skier who headed out to San Jose’s Calero Reservoir to ski just last week, he’s critical of the industry’s manufacturers and lobbyists. He says their jet-ski design encourages riders to be aggressive and therefore dangerous. And worse, he says they know it.
Are you aware of the dangers? Well some danger and excitement are part of the fun but nothing is worth such injuries as those that can be caused be lack of protections against falling. Safety suits are worth the effort.
I know it is a little off the subject of jetski, but Stacy Peralta riding giants is an amazing movie for all the sea lover. If you haven’t seen it find the DVD it is great to look at.
CarSoup.com that dealt with selling new and used vehicle has added personal watercraft to the inventory.
I feel this can be seen as an indication for the growing market for jet skis. The commercial site expand their service only if it economic. The fact that more and more firms and websites that dealt previously with vehicles include personal watercraft to their production line or offer them for sale makes it easy for all of us.
It is possible to sell the used jet ski, but a new or a used one and all this is becoming easier.
I have just read Luke stay’s words about the patronizing approach that organized society had toward surfers and skaters.
It really made me thinking is jet ski getting more respect because you can’t be an outsider to own a jetski or are we too considered a little crazy or at least a nuisance by other.
I really can’t tell it probably depends.
Any way it is so much fun that I couldn’t care less.
Recently I’ve seen a several people trying jet ski surfing, and specifically big wave jet ski surfing.
I bet you go  now…
Well that’s what I did when I’ve seen that. Combining the jet power with a several tons force pushing you on the back should be something.
I’m going to try this out and let you know how is it.
Update:
Found a super cool video of big wave surfing, and though it’s not jet ski, it’s still super cool to watch.
The best surf occurs in Hawaii (particularly the North Shore area) because these islands are the most isolated landmass on earth, surrounded by huge open expanses of the Pacific Ocean providing a massive fetch for the winds to generate big waves which rear up as they hit the shallow offshore reefs. Hawaii is home to the surfing Mecca’s called Jaws, Waimea Bay, Oahu and the Pipeline.
However, there are other beaches around the world which rival the waves found here such as Mavericks, California and Teahupoo, Tahiti (pronounced cho-pu and translates into English as “broken skulls”).
