while waiting for this Buffalo NY winter to end I have two questions for you guys: 1.) with temps in the 20's and 30's, is it safe to start a ski stored in an unheated garage for about 5-10 seconds every week or so, or should I just put oil in the cylinder and crank it a few times. 2.) will any synthetic pre=mix oil (klotz, amsoil, pennzoil etc) really minimize ring and cylinder wear more than dino oil at 40:1, ? I've got to get an engine from SBT or somewhere else in the spring, and plan on breaking it in on mineral oil at 40:1, but am wondering if a synthetic will prolong engine life more than regular 40:1 mineral pre-mix. Thanks

No,

Put it on a trailer, drive it to California, and come ride with us instead.

I'm not an expert, but i live in Michigan, so we're in the same boat as far as temps go. As long as it was winterized properly, you have no reason to start it, aside from the fact that you may be getting a little crazy from the cold. I will not start mine, and i keep it 20 miles from my house in a heated garage. That way i don't go start it up every sunday, just to hear it run for shits and giggles. Fog the hell out of it, and let it sit. It's o.k. to work on it, but starting it is not real beneficial to the ski.

But clicking it over a couple of times does, as oil seeks the lowest spot so it helps to keep rust down. But what do I know. Right Larry >
