FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE...

ALL AROUND OFF-SHORE/ENDURANCE GETS A ADDED BOOST R.P.M. GET INTO THE PROGRAM!

Cantil, CA -

We are delighted to report that R.P.M. RACING (Renegade Performance Products), of Phoenix, AZ has joined the growing list of series sponsors, to post $750.00 for the Overall racer who finishes in Third Place and earns the #3 Plate at the end of the 2001 ALL-AROUND OFF- SHORE/ENDURANCE SERIES. R.P.M. joins GROUP-K who has posted $5,000 for the # 1 Plate and Malan's WENDY, which has posted $1,000 for the #2 Plate.

This is for the 'Overall' Points Champions, who have to compete in all the events (13) in the combined Gran Prix, LongCourse and Team Endurance Series presented by BPMS.

We'd like to thank R.P.M. and GROUP-K and MALAN'S WENDY'S for their generosity and ask all the racers, their friends and families to support our sponsors products.

The 2001 Series, sanctioned by the IJSBA, also boasts 'Presenting & Associate Sponsors' such as KAWASAKI, YAMAHA, POLARIS, PERALTA DESIGN and N. HOLLYWOOD HONDA.

And the list keeps growing. We welcome any other inquiries from prospective sponsors. If you know anyone who might be interested, please have them get in touch with us. So far, the ALL-AROUND SERIES has a total of $6,750.00 going directly to the racers at the end of the Series.

I have an idea to run by the group. Let's make this event a great one for all the racers. I was thinking that we could have a rec.sport.jetski newsgroup fund to make the prize money even larger. If we all pitched in $20, $30 etc. we could make a nice return for not just the first place winner but 2nd and 3rd. I am willing to give $50 to the purse and challenge all of you participants and lurkers on here to add whatever you can. This will bring more entries to the races with prize money being awarded and it just might begin to bring racing back for the little guys. It should make for some great competition and racing for the coming season. I think we can all afford a little donation like this and hopefully Lou can set up an account for the money to be sent to. This is very positive for our sport and although it really benefits the West Coast racers, I still think it's a good idea. At least it will get the ball rolling so to speak. There have been many heated exchanges here and different points of view, but I think we can stand together on this one and give back a little to our sport. Who's in? Lou, would you be willing to accept this. I just thought it would be a good idea. Zoltan Kallos

Are you kidding? I remember people in this NG complaining about having to pay admission to the tour races. You really think that anyone wants to donate money to the cause without getting something tangible in return?

What we need is to motivate potential sponsors so that we can have prize money not only for the season champs, but for every race. Sponsorship and comercialismis what will save our sport, not donations.

I think it's an excellent idea, although I don't know how many riders who don't race with us would be willing to put in some $$$. I can assure you that we can set up a Trust account so that moneys can go directly to it, or we make the deposits and to assure that it's not touched until the end of the Series, we can stipulate that the moneys will be released upon presentation of the official and Final results at the end of the year, let's say by December 30, 2001.

Excellent idea. I'll be interested to see how many people will help.

You know we've done this before in off-road by setting up a 'Driver's Points Fund' which was distributed at the end of the season. I didn't want to do it with PWC racers because it would mean raising their entry fees. We're still trying to hold it down to $85.00 per entry. In off-road, our entries were soemwhere between $400.00 to $500.00 per entry, so an extra $25.00 didn't mean much.

Thanks

Lou

I don't think a small amount of money will set anyone on here back that much. I just thought it would be cool to do this and people on here are real enthusiasts, so I figured $10-$30 or ? wouldn't make anyone starve or miss the money that much. Just think of the excitement at the races when people will be trying to get the purse. More competition, better racing etc. It can be set up for the 'stock' class or whatever so that not too much out of pocket has to be had from the potential racers. I think it would boost the stock class in turn out and get people involved in racing that probably wouldn't have been involved before. The prize money is a good incentive and sounds like fun. Once again, will this chump change put any of us into bankruptcy? I don't think so. I was just trying to unite us on here in a way that hopefully no one can argue about. It's a good thing IMO. Give it some thought.

I hope everyone on here can spare this minimal amount of money. It just seems like a good idea to me even though one of the West Coast riders will benefit. It's gotta start somewhere though. Who knows where this could lead? If someone from another region proposed this, I would be willing to support it.

That is just what I wanted to see you post.

Me too. I hope every one of us on here can do it.

$25 is a small percent of $400-$500, but it is still minimal from us on here as well. The way I look at it is if you can be a part of this sport, which isn't very cheap then a small donation like this should be fine. I hope I am right on this. I just feel like the benefit of a purse to race for has no real downside and wanted to make this ng a part of a positive thing.

I don't need to think about it, I am just reminding of various posts in the past referring to an admission charge at races, making me believe that the majority would not contribute, personally I will be more than happy to participate just as I never blink at paying admission to the various races I've attended. I have flown to Chicago, Havasu and driven to FL and Rochester New York, in order to support and enjoy our sport as an expectator and will be happy to contribute. Shall we?

Please don't take my responce as my belief that you had a bad idea, I just didn't have the faith that anyone would be willing to make it happen. I want to be proven wrong!

Let's!

I had total faith and it doesn't seem like many people are jumping on the idea. It's still a little early and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for most to get home from work and read the ng.
