FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE…

BPMS'S ALL-AROUND OFF-SHORE/ENDURANCE SERIES GETS NEW SPONSOR

GROUP-K WILL POST $5,000.00

FOR THE RACER WHO EARNS

THE NUMBER (#1) PLATE IN 2001

Cantil, CA - In a stunning announcement and agreement between BP MotorSports, organizers of the series, and Group-K, the high performance company based out of Fort Mohave, AZ, there came an unprecedented decision: To make the upcoming 2001 BPMS ALL-AROUND OFF- SHORE/ENDURANCE SERIES, which is part of the IJSBA's National Off-Shore Endurance Series, the richest single-award off-shore/endurance series ever. By posting a guaranteed $5,000.00 cash purse to the racer who finishes as the Overall Points Champion and earns the Number One (#1) plate at the end of the 2001 PWC racing season, the Series will have the biggest cash pay-out ever.

The All-Around Series consists of thirteen events (13), which include five (5) Gran Prix, five (5) LongCourse, and three (3) Team Endurance events. There are no throwaways and each event counts towards the year- end Overall and Class points championships. Every racer competing in the series can qualify for the top prize. Each racer's 'Overall' finishes at each event, including the five LongCourse events, will count towards the year-end points.

Group-K has stepped up to the plate and Harry Klemm, owner of the company, has indicated that Off-Shore/Endurance racing is where his and other products are really put to the test. The Fort Mohave-based Company has long been supporting many of the Off-Shore/Endurance racers, and if you look at most of the results after each event, many of the top finishers are racers who use Group-K modified products.

With this announcement, Lou Peralta, organizer of the BPMS Series was delighted in saying; 'It's finally come to us (meaning the racers). These people have worked very hard for the past seven years, not only to prove their skills and stamina in off-shore and endurance events, but to also prove the worthiness of their products and how it's prepared. Thanks to GROUP-K, the racer's efforts will finally be rewarded. We believe that this posting by Group-K will lead and encourage other companies to also put up a generous purse. After all, we believe that our racers have already proven themselves when it comes to skills and performance, way beyond any other type of PWC racing. We are going to work on getting other sponsors and racers to be committed to this year's Series,' added Peralta.

The formula will be simple. There are thirteen (13) events spread over a ten-weekend period. Depending on how each racer finishes in the 'Overall' scheme of things, he/she will earn points accordingly. For example: First place 'overall' will be awarded 100 points; second place 95 points; third place 92 points, fourth place 90 points; fifth place 88 points; and sixth through the balance of the racers will be awarded points in descending increments of one. So it's just not good enough to win your Class, it's how you finish 'overall' that's going to count for the year-end 'Overall Points Championship' and a chance at the #1 Plate and the $5,000.00, winner-take-all award.

More details are forthcoming, and you can check BPMS' web site at (http://www.bpracing.net) for the 2001 race schedule and additional details.

The first event of the IJSBA/BPMS All-Around Off-Shore/Endurance Series is scheduled for February 10, 2001, at Lake Elsinore, CA. It will be a two-hour Gran Prix. Expected are not only some of the top BPMS Pros and racers but also many of the top closed-course racers.

Here's a pat on the back for ya, Harry! Great job! It'll tickle me as well when a GK boat wins the purse over some of the other blowhards on the group.

Well you are right Harry. The IJSBA can use all the help they can get, and I'm not real sure you can do much for them. Other than promoting events, announcing for the IJSBA, color commentating for Speed Vision, and BEING performance alley for the last 2 years on the national tour. Ya maybe you're right Harry.....He doesn't do that much for the IJSBA HAHA

Harry Lloyd has done more for this sport than anyone I know, so what is your problem. He took Rick Roy in & helped him train when he first started in USA. every time I went down to Fla. we rode together, my son is a great rider becuase of him. S.o I dont understand why you made that statement,or is it because he does not indorse you Groupe K products?

Mr. Sick, Lloyd Berlew is 'one of very many' folks who has enjoyed visibility that has come from his involvement with pwc competition. And like all of those other folks, Lloyd has certainly put forward effort to promote the sport .... and himself ... and that's great. At last year's world finals, two new sponsors (Norelco and Ford) attended performance alley to 'test the waters' to see if 2001 title sponsorship was for them. At this same time, Lloyd made the very poor choice to engage in some high visibility antics that could do nothing but make the IJSBA look unworthy of that sponsorship. If making us all look like idiots in front of two potential 2001 title sponsors is your idea of promoting pwc racing, you (and Lloyd) need to review your priorities. Think about the heads that would roll if any NASCAR competitor pulled a stunt like this in the pits at the Daytona 500. Llodd may have done many good things for pwc racing ... his world finals stunts were not among them. Lloyd is not the first pro racer to be in stark disagreement with the IJSBA. If he had effective solutions to address the problems he saw, he needed to appoach the IJSBA (with a large number of members who agreed with him) and appeal to effect those solutions. No much about his actions at WF was about solutions or agreement. Despite what may have been good intentions, Lloyd shot us all in the foot. I hope Lloyd contines his dedication to the pwc sport ... and I hope he continues to help make promote pwc racing in a positive way (that's what we are trying to do). When tagged rag dolls laying under tires, in the presence of well financed title sponsors, helps to promote any part of our sport ... I'll do it too. I don't see that happening any time soon.

Harry, I agree. Although Loydd has done a ton of good things over the years I have known him, his antics at this years World Championships were not in good taste, and probably even destructive of furthering our cause as a group of racers who are looking for that corporate respect that could lead to some major sponsorship. I'm sure Jay must have done something to really piss him off, but there was no place for what he did at the WC's. I was not real happy with the magazine that printed it either. Although some may have felt that it was funny, It was definetly in poor taste and destructive, no matter how you look at it.

Loydd is a good guy. He just didn't use good judgement IMO. I won't crucify him though. As he has done so many positive things too. He is a very colorful part of our pwc culture, and, to be without him would be a shame. But, I would definetly draw the line at voting him in as president of the IJSBA!

The bigger picture is sometimes overlooked in the day to day hassels of life. Sometimes people do things that maybe they would re-consider at a later date.

I don't know if berlews lashing out was so much to help himself but to vent his frusration on what all of us who bleed jet ski racing can see as a lack of foresight by the ijsba.

In the 80's The tour use to be a gas, but that gas has burned out, the best thing the ijsba did lately was jet jams, now that kind of event really rocks and makes sponsors take notice! Why would ford and norelco bother if no one can see the stickers. If my corporation was do dump money into something their must be return, their is no return in the national tours current format! The formula that all the corporations that I work for is 10% in and 100% return or rather ten times their investment or they donot do it!

Berlew is a nice guy and an original gangster of jet skiing, I respect him and all the other og's do too! But he is pissing in the wind because the ijsba is not gonna budge, their only gonna do what they have too, just eneough!

Yes it may have been in poor taste but if you look at all top racers, I think all have made mistakes they wish they could take back. Harry you seem to hold gruges with a lot of people that speck there mind. To error is Human, to forgive takes understanding. And thank you for calling me sick shows what you as a human are like I guess. Oh but sorry I am not aloud to have a opion.

Larry, Please read the 'entire' post your responding to before getting bent. This was a response to a person who uses 'sickair219' instead of a real name.

I hold grudges against no one ... and I also take insulting remarks from no one. I expect that everyone else on this ng (who isn't afraid to post under their real name) is the same.

I do find it interesting that so many 'apparent' racers feel the need to trash talk an aftermarket manufacturer who has just committed to paying $5000 cash to racers. If this is any example of how tour racers have treated past contingency sponsors ... it's little wonder that sponsorship has slipped.

Respectfully, Harry Klemm
