1996 Sea-Doo XP

What do you guys think about a 1996 XP with a zero-hour 800 engine in it? I found this ski at a local dealer. They just replaced the engine and are asking $3800 for it, including a single trailer. It belongs to a customer, but it's on the showroom floor, so there is no warranty and I won't have the dealer to fall back on if something does go wrong. I know average retail on this ski is about $2500, but that doesn't take into count a new engine. It looks like it is in better than average condition, and the inside of the hull is very clean.

$3000 max.. maybe up to $3500 if it is cherry and has extras but I wouldnt pay more than $3k for a clean one.

Especially if its stock. Its not that expensive to have a clean bore job done a known professional. Definitely not necessary to have a new engine to make it a good boat.

It's definitely not cherry, and doesn't come with any extras. I'm not sure why the engine was replaced, but in any case it was. I'm sure he paid $800 from SBT to get the engine, then another $500 to have the dealer put it in, so he's trying to get his money back. He's standing firm on $3800 though. I suppose I'll make him an offer of $2700 come September when it's still for sale.

You can by my '96 XP with all the trimmings for $4000. Countless Aftermarket shit. Very fast race boat. This guys on some serious drugs or he's a crook.
