I thought I had a bad battery, but I had water in the engine. It took a couple of weeks to find out.
I have gotten (I believe) all the water out. But it will not start. I have spark on all three cylinders, good compression and the fuel pump is working.
I hope nothing damaged, I have a shop manual and replaced the starter selenoid last year. It has only run a few hours since I replaced the selenoid.

Difficult to answer. All engine related problems are a bit complicated. Could it be erosion?

I was able to get the engine running Friday night. Still believe water was an issue.
Anyhow went to a lake Saturday and could not keep engine running (a lot of times it would not start without starter fluid). I noticed a lot of smoke in the engine compartment. I suspect that one of the reed valves are damaged.
Thanks.

Is there any way you could check this yourself (the reed valve)?

The only way I know how is to take the carbs and intake manifold off.

Then perhaps having a professional look at it would be a good idea? Or someone else who understands about how a reed valve should look like and detect faults?
